When I say steep transition or pull down, I mean quite literally from the top, I’m pulling the shaft down too quick and too much from the relative to the body segments. From the top of the backswing the shaft gets narrow and very vertical.
Good golfers lead the sequencing during the downswing with their body segments and their arms and hands trail - that that's a measured thing.
What you're trying to feel from the top of the swing is that your body generates the motion first. Then your arms and hands follow.
Part of fixing the pull down or steep transition is by increasing body action. From the top of the swing, you are reflexing the legs, getting the upper body down and shifting pressure forward. As you are doing those things, you are leaving your arms and hands back.
It's hard sometimes to just leave your arms and hands alone. Some of you guys are going to have to replace a feeling with a new feeling.
From the top of my swing as my body starts down, I can feel like my arms and hands actually go up farther from the ground. That would be the opposite of pulling down. By pushing your hands up, you would enable yourself more time to let your body start doing the downward motion. I can also feel my arms and hands and go away from target as I start my body motions.
As you are doing this you must be giving yourself FEEDBACK – like with video – to know if you’re actually doing it right. You have to understand the goal to get rid of that is create motion with your body, reflex the knees, get the body down, shift pressure and rotate.
